Saint Teresa
was a woman who did many good works in her life.
She was
born in Ávila and was buried in Alba de Tormes.
Since
she was very young she wanted to follow God and went into a convent; later she founded
her own Order: The Discalced Carmelites.
She was
a friend of the Dukes of Alba and in her last days of life attended a great
event in court.
Saint Teresa´s
body is divided in several places: Alba de Tormes, Ávila, Rome, Málaga…
Today her
name is remembered with honor and pride in the village of Alba de Tormes.
This
small village, where she died, is very important in the History of Spain,
because it belongs to the ducal family.
Recently
the Queen Sofía of Spain came to inaugurate an exhibition dedicated to the Saint.
